Superfoods for a healthy liver
Liver is one of the most important organ in human body, performing more than 500 functions. This includes digestion, glucose formation and release, detoxification and immune modulation.
Here are some foods that can keep your liver hale and hearty :
1) Cruciferous vegetables : Cauliflower, Broccoli, Cabbage, Brussel sprouts, Kale - major source of glutathione which triggers the toxin cleansing enzymes of the liver.
2) Olive oil : considered a healthy fat and is good for both heart and liver. It has been shown to decrease the level of fats in the liver cells.
3) Citrus based fruits : Lemon, Orange, Sweet lime, Grapes, Berries and Tomato - contain high amount of Vitamin C (citric acid) which helps in flushing all the water soluble toxins from the body.
4) Green Tea : contains anti-oxidants which has anti-inflammatory effects.
